Herpes Outbreaks What causes recurrences?
There is no cure for herpes, but you can take some precautions to help limit your number of breakouts. After the symptoms fade away, the virus resides in the nerve ganglia and remains dormant. The virus resides in the trigeminal ganglion, near the ear, for oral herpes and in the sacral ganglion at the base of the spine for genital herpes.
Some potential triggers for herpes outbreaks:
Weakened immune system
Binging on nuts and most seeds
Binging on chocolate
Too much L-arginine in your diet
Colds or fever
Lack of sleep
Glycolic acid and other facial peels
Permanent Makeup application
