Herpes Treatment | Acyclovir

Acyclovir is used to treat genital herpes, helping to reduce the pain and speed up healing the lesions. It works by stopping the spread of the herpes virus in the body.

Acyclovir is also used to treat varicella (chickenpox) and herpes zoster (shingles) a rash which can occur in people who have had chickenpox.

Take acyclovir exactly as directed. Do not take more or less of it or take it more often or for a longer time than prescribed by your doctor.

Side Effects

• Common side effects are pain, upset stomach, vomiting, diarrhea, changes in vision, dizziness or tiredness.
• If you have more severe side effects like blood in your urine, confusion, headache, a rash, fever, itching, numbness or tingling in arms or legs, hallucinations, difficulty breathing or swallowing, unusual bruising or bleeding, seizures, aggressive behavior, or jaundice, call your doctor immediately.
