Dr. Thomas R. Neblett is a Microbiologist. He earned his undergraduate degree from Michigan State University, attended the University of Louisville, and completed a M.S. Degree in Bacteriology from Wayne State University. He returned to Michigan State where he received a Ph. D. Degree in Microbiology and Public Health.

Immediately, Dr. Neblett joined the Henry Ford Hospital Department of Pathology staff as Senior Associate in charge of the Serology Laboratory. He later became head of the Microbiology Division at Henry Ford where he directed the Clinical Microbiology and Serology Laboratories, taught physicians and Medical Technology graduate students, served on the Infectious Control Committee and served one term as Department of Pathology representative to the Henry Ford Hospital Medical Board. After many years, he left to become Chief Microbiologist for Flint Clinical Pathologists, directing the Microbiology Laboratories at McLaren and St. Joseph hospitals.

Dr. Neblett is currently self-employed as a Microbiologist Consultant and has acted in behalf of local clinical and environmental laboratories, industrial corporations and practicing attorneys. He also served as Clinical Microbiology Consultant to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Ann Arbor. His many scientific interests include anaerobic microbiology, Legionnaire’s disease, infection control, infectious characteristics of medical suctioning equipment and sexually transmitted diseases. He was featured in a series of 9 programs on local cable television entitled, “Germs of Endearment”.

As a lecturer and workshop presenter, Dr. Neblett has traveled extensively. He is co-founder and co-owner of American Health Information, Inc., a Michigan non-profit corporation formed to organize and conduct lectures, workshops, seminars, etc. on health care topics. He was also the host of a radio talk program called, “Health Information Workshop”.

Dr. Neblett has been an active member of the American Society for Microbiology and the Society for Industrial Microbiology. He has served as a member of the ASM’s Continuing Education Committee and as a Chairman of the ASM Traveling Anaerobic Microbiology Workshop. He is a Past President of the Michigan Branch of the American Society for Microbiology. He is a member of the Society for Sigma Xi and has been a listee in “Who’s Who?” in the Midwest.

Dr. Neblett is a Son of the American Revolution. He is an avid and experienced yachtsman, has interest in the Civil War events involving the original Yacht, America, and has authored original articles pertaining to that vessel.
