Bloody Discharge
Dear Dr. Rob:
I have recently been to sexual health clinic and have been told I am suffering from herpes; I was given acyclovir. But I have found that I am getting a bloody discharge, but I can’t see where the blood was from and I am worried that it is not normal and there is something seriously wrong. Please put my mind at ease.

Dear Terrified:
A bloody discharge is not a typical problem associated with herpes. I would get back to the health clinic and ask them to do a culture and also a Herpes Select Test because it sounds like you had the older nonspecific indiscriminant test for herpes done.
