Can herpes symptoms show up inside of the mouth?

Wow, I thought I would never find information on this subject, but at any rate I’m gald I did. Question- can you have herpes in side the mouth, on your tongue? I’m sure this sounds strange, but I quess if you have to get it, it has to been somewhere real strange. Thanks for the info, and for being here.

Yes, it is possible to have oral herpes which can be located on your lips, tongue, mouth, or throat. Warm, moist mucus areas are places where the herpes virus is attracted. That’s why genitals, anus, and eyes can also be host sites. I recommend that you see a physician to determine an accurate diagnosis and treatment for the problem you are experiencing.

Yes, herpes can cause sores inside the mouth, particularly the first time someone is infected. Later outbreaks usually appear on the lips instead. Since other common problems also cause mouth sores, it's worth knowing the difference.
Key facts
- A first HSV-1 infection can cause blisters or sores on the gums, inside the mouth and in the throat, often with fever and swollen glands. It is most common in young children.
- Repeat outbreaks usually appear on or around the lips.
- Not every mouth sore is herpes. A blister on the inside of the lip or mouth is often a mouth ulcer (canker sore).
- Mouth symptoms usually go away on their own in 1 to 2 weeks.
When to talk to a doctor
See a doctor if you or your child have swollen, painful gums with sores in the mouth, trouble swallowing or drinking, a sore that has not started to heal within 10 days, or a weakened immune system. Babies with mouth sores should be seen promptly.
