Different Types of Outbreaks

Dear Dr. Rob:

I have had herpes for 10 years now and I have a number of different types of outbreaks. Just this week a new type has come up. I have painful bumps all over my backside. Is this common? Up until now my outbreaks have been genital, or concentrated on the upper buttocks area. I felt really run down last week, and now this new outbreak.

Dr. Rob’s Response:

Dear Poster with Bumps on Backside:

It is certainly possible to have bumps on your rear end as a manifestation of herpes. Again the therapy would be to go on Valcyclovir or Acyclovir to make sure that this herpes digresses, and Lysine, 1 gram twice a day, to calm things down.
