Not Likely Herpes

Dear Dr. Rob:

I have had pimple like bumps on my genital area for a couple years now. They are always there but not too noticeable. I looked at the symptoms page but nothing on the page has happened to me yet, no redness or doesn’t hurt at all. There also seems to be like bumps that look like black heads and some look yellow like a pimple. They aren’t in like one little group either. that are long side my private area and they also seem not to be above the skin. Is it possible to get that from shaving or do you think they’re symptoms of herpes? If you could send a message back and let me know what you think I appreciate it.

Dr. Rob’s Response:

DearPoster Who Questions Bumps:

The lesions that last 2 years are unlikely herpes. I would strongly suggest a visit to your physician and a full workup to discuss what these lesions are. It is possible they are simply a heat rash or acne. But I cannot rule out herpes without having the Herpes Select Test results to prove one way or another what is going on. Again, I would not sweat the small stuff and I think this is not likely to be herpes. But, my thoughts are nowhere near as important as testing.
