I have just learned that I have contracted Herpes from my girlfriend…and, I’m 65!!!…I should be happy that now I’ve reached that socially acceptable plateau!!! Anyway, my girlfriend claims…she didn’t know she had it!!!…Is this possible?

I’m not sure congratulations is in order. Yes, it is possible your girlfriend may have had it for a while and not actually had a lesion. Most shedding of the herpes virus, and therefore transmission to a partner, occurs during periods where there are no lesions. Despite your age, safe sex is an important factor in your love life.
