I contacted herpes from my husband. He told me he was infected before we had intimate contact. I asked my physician for information on how to avoid contacting it (was told to have him use a condom when he “felt he was having a break-out”). I became infected about a year later anyway. I have since had a very healthy baby (had one outbreak during second trimester of pregnancy). Had a C-section, but not because of the herpes. There is so much else to worry about in life that I basically ignore the discomfort and go on as usual (although it does make traveling in a car for a long distance a rather painful experience).
