I have type 1 in the genital area. I contracted the virus by engaging in oral sex with my husband while he was getting over a cold sore. We were unaware that it could transmit the virus. When I had the initial outbreak I wasn`t positive what it was after trying to diagnose my symptoms over the internet. And unknowingly made it much much worse trying to fix it on my own.
