Dear Dr. Rob:

I have a lesion or boil on my labia. It is the size of the end of a thumb tack it is sore and appears as though it has white fluid inside of it, kind of like a pimple but larger; it is not a cluster. I have lower back pain (but can’t tell if it’s from sleeping funny only have had the pain today). No swollen glands and no bumps anywhere else, no fever, no headaches, it is painful however and does tingle. I was tested before for herpes, but the test was negative could this just be a boil?

Dr. Rob’s Response:

Dear Poster who Asks about a Boil:

Of course, it could be a boil, but I can’t state that with certainty. If you’ve been tested before and have no other symptoms, I would not sweat the small stuff at this time. If it reoccurs, I would suggest testing with the Herpes Select Test to determine if there is any herpes activity.
