IC Flare or Herpes
Dear Dr. Rob:
I was wondering if it was possible to have only urinary tract problems and no other symptoms with a recurrence?
I am also an IC patient (Interstitial Cystitis) and so I deal with bladder problems all the time. However, we have determined that I do not have a bladder infection. So, I’m either dealing with an IC flare for if it is possible, a recurrence of my herpes.

Dear IC Patient:
An impossible conundrum, I see it can present with no symptoms, as can herpes, whether there is an overt lesion or not. It is not possible to say. On the other hand, using Valcyclovir, 1 gram per day or 1 gram twice a day, should clear these symptoms if they are due to herpes.
