Did I get Herpes from Kissing?
Dear Dr. Rob:
I have been recently diagnosed with HSV1. I haven`t had
an outbreak or anything. I want to know if I could have
gotten it from kissing or sexual activity or both?

Dear Confused:
You can get Herpes Type1 both from sexual activity, as
well as, from kissing. It would be impossible to know
since 20% of genital herpes is Herpes Type 1 and 20%
of oral herpes, or cold sores, are in fact, sexually
transmitted.
